Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 November 2026

At Forge Smart, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it and how we use it.

1. Who we are

Forge Smart is operated by T. Smith Limited. We provide business education, online courses and tools for farriers.

For questions about your personal information, please contact [email protected].

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Forge Smart, we may collect:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Contact details and messages you send us.
  • Course enrolment, account and learning progress information.
  • Purchase and transaction information.
  • Figures entered into our break-even calculator, including workload, costs, prices and profit goals.
  • Your marketing preferences and consent records.
  • Technical information such as browser information and website usage data, where collected.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide access to our courses and educational services.
  • Respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
  • Calculate and email personalised break-even reports when requested.
  • Manage enrolments, payments and business records.
  • Send course updates and essential service communications.
  • Send business tips, course information and promotional emails where you have opted in.
  • Maintain and improve the security and operation of our services.

4. Our legal reasons for using information

Under UK data protection law, we use personal information where an appropriate lawful basis applies:

  • Contract: to deliver courses and services you purchase.
  • Consent: to send optional marketing emails where you have agreed to receive them.
  • Legitimate interests: to respond to requested calculator reports and enquiries, maintain security and operate our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligations: to maintain records required by law, including relevant accounting and tax records.

5. Our break-even calculator

When you request a personalised report, we use the information you provide to calculate and email your results.

You do not need to agree to marketing emails to receive your report. Marketing consent is a separate, optional choice.

The calculator produces automated estimates for educational purposes. It does not make decisions about your eligibility for finance, employment or other services.

6. Marketing emails

If you opt in, we may send you business advice, educational resources, course information and Forge Smart offers.

You can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent will not affect any course you have purchased.

7. Who we share information with

We use trusted service providers to operate Forge Smart, including Thinkific for our learning platform and 20i for website hosting and calculator-related services. Payment providers and email delivery services may also process relevant information when needed.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

Where providers process information outside the UK, we assess the applicable data protection arrangements and safeguards.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, responding to requests, maintaining appropriate records and meeting legal obligations.

Calculator reports and enquiry records are reviewed periodically and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed. Marketing records are retained while you remain subscribed, with limited suppression records retained where necessary to respect unsubscribe requests. Financial records are retained for the periods required by applicable law.

9. Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Cookies and website technology

Our websites and course platform may use cookies or similar technologies needed for website operation, account access and security. Other cookies, including analytics or marketing cookies, may be used where appropriate permissions are in place.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and any cookie preferences offered on our websites.

11. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal information, object to certain processing, request data portability and withdraw consent.

To exercise your rights, email [email protected].

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, practices or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page.
